Welcome

In German, Weber translates to Weaver.  I have wanted to learn how to weave for many years and decided to investigate weaving classes after relocating to Virginia.  I spent a weekend with Elizabeth Jackson of Saville Hill Farm.  This was my introduction to weaving, I made a scarf and sampler.  I was hooked!

I purchased a floor loom, an older 45" Leclerc Mira, and began amassing all the various necessities ( an ongoing process!)  After many false starts, I wove my first sample in a purple heather wool.

I tried again, but without success.  I was having difficulty warping my loom.  I read an assortment of books, but still couldn't master the process.  I signed up for the Chain Warping class at The Mannings with instructor Thomas Knisely.  I returned home with renewed enthusiasm and, more importantly, an easier way to warp!

My first project was this throw for my living room:

Then I experimented with a very long warp designed to produce several chenille scarves, a photo of one of the scarves:

I made another throw as a Christmas gift for friends:

In the next posts you can follow my progress on a throw I'm weaving for my mom.

Thanks for sharing my journey.
